Leadership style

< Back to Skillmapping page

Two types of behaviour can be adopted, depending on the type of relationship with the collaborator and on the goals that one sets out to achieve: efficient behaviour, which is used at the right time and with the right person; and inefficient behaviour, which uses words and actions that do not provide additional value.

A leader may use a single type of behaviour when dealing with his collaborators as a group, but may have to use different styles when dealing with specific individuals. Every behaviour change will have a higher success rate if it is gradual and if the collaborator understands the reasons for such change.

The most desirable, most appropriate outcome is to establish a rapport with the collaborators which combines the right proportions of control behaviour (task/goal oriented) and relationship behaviour (oriented towards human relations).
